It has been said, “everyone is related if you go further back on the family tree”. That can be said about my family from Whitefield, New Hampshire. These people lived in this small community for over a century.
I have already introduced my 2nd great grandparents (Augustin Noel (Newell) and Sophia Allaire) who immigrated to the U.S. from Canada. Many of their children settled in the towns throughout New Hampshire. See: A French Canadian Family – Augustin Noel and Sophia Allaire
Augustin Noel and Sophia Allaire had fourteen children; and twelve lived to full adulthood.

Now, I will talk about one of Lewis Newell’s children; (Lewis) Guy Newell (1891-1957) and his wife, Grace Newhall Newell (1891-1983). Grace Newhall was born in Liberty, Maine. She studied teaching at the Gorham Normal School in New Hampshire. After graduating from teaching school, Grace taught grade school in the Whitefield, New Hampshire for several years before she married (Lewis) Guy Newell.

I would say my Great Aunt Grace knew a lot about her family. She was a “people person” and kept in contact with both Guy Newell’s and her family. She gathered information of the ever growing family tree. The Newell family tree has grown tremendously since Grace Newell started her research over forty years ago. Grace’s daughter, Stella McCallip and granddaughter, Connie Williams have carried on the family tradition.
My Aunt Grace taught several years in the Whitefield, New Hampshire elementary schools. These photographs are some of her students. Many of photographs have the students’ names handwritten on the back.
